I hope some one can help me with this question. Last week I walked into a car dealer and told the service person: "I am here to change the tires". I am not sure if word "the" was used correctly in that sentence. Any comment would be appreciated.

Yes, 'the' is fine. I would have said 'to have the tires changed', though.
