Hi Lila,

Your name sounds like my friend's name (Nila). Wink

So you're studying English at university? Will you become a teacher of English?

Nice to know you.

We share the same like. Very Happy

Hi Boke,

As far as I know, there are quite a lot of Polish people who understand and speak German but there only very few Germans who would even think of making an attempt to learn any Polish. You might want to read more on this subject in this short piece where I deal with the question How good is your Polish?

Polish is a Slavic language while German is a Germanic language -- they belong to different language families.

Yea, Torsten is right. German and Polish are totally different. Different roots, different grammar, vocabulary, pronouncation (but for instance many borrowings in polish from German language)but generally a big gap between them, althougt these 2 countries are neighbours.

Yes, most Slavic languages are similar enough for its speakers to understand each other when they talk about day-to-day situations.
