Hello everyone. I am trying to improve my listening by some english news. The following is a news on CCTV9 (China's Central Television Channel 9). I have listened to it repeatedly for many times but still can't figure out several words and sentences in the news. ___________________________________ http://www.cctv.com/video/NewsHour/2007/10/NewsHour_300_20071025_13.shtml
NOTE: PN here refers to proper names.
(For PN, leaving the earth was an impossible dream for humans. The Soviet Union brought that dream one step closer to reality in 1969, launching PN the world’s first artificial satellite. This marked the beginning of the new era of space exploration. In 1958 another Russian satellite PN obtained the first pictures of the farrest side of the moon.
The success of the Soviet engineers stunned the world and was followed 2 years’ later by another historical achievement. NP became the first human in space. When the Soviet leader embraced triumph in PN, the united states (1)?sent its embition with getting into action___________________ Neighbor
"The eyes of the world now are looking at the space. And we have vowed that we shall not see it ‘s governed by a hostile flag of conquest but by a banner of freedom. We chose to go to the moon. We chose go to the moon (2)?...other things ... not because they are easy but because they are hard."
The US government began to pour more money into the space research technology with the goal of putting a man on the moon. Their efforts’re paid off. Till 1960s,1969, when Apollo 11 touched down on the surface of the moon, PN1 and PN2 became the first men to walk on the lunar surface.
“This is one small step for a man, one giant leap for USA.”
When the US astronauts ?planned the national flag on the moon, a Russian moon probe crashed near where the Usa spaceship landed.
The US has finally won a two play lunar game with high technological and (3)______political states. Between 1969-1972, 9 American spacecrafts voyaged to the moon and 12 men walked on the surface, Now when the 1st decade of the 21st century, moon exploration is once again attracting many countries’ attention.
"There are rich lunar resources like mineral and solar energy, taking the (4)free in the moon soil for example, it is a raw material for generating electricity to control the nuclear fusion.Human’s exploration of the moon can be vital at the sustaining the earth’s development.
In 2003, the European Space Agency launched its 1st moon probe-the Smart 1 orbitor. 2 years later, the probe sent the office machine on schedule by crashing into the lunar’s surface., completing a project to explain more about the moon’s origin.
Also in 2003, china became only the 3rd country in the world to launch its own manned spaceship. Now the country is set to launch its 1st lunar probe- chang’e 1 and planes to build its own space station to orbit the earth as well as sending a mission to the moon in 10 or 15 years.
In Sept. Japan launched the lunar orbitor. Japan’s Space Agency has announced its goal of sending an astronaut to the moon by 2020 and building a lunar outpost by 2030.
Indian is also preparing the launch of mission next year.
Meanwhile the US is pressing its head constulating program with an aim of return of an astronaut to the moon by 2020.
"The 1st moon exploration fever is different from the 2nd one. The 1st involved only the USA and the Soviet Union with a purpose of seizing space primacy. The 2nd one has more countries’ participating and aims at jointly extract and utilize lunar resources and energies."
30 years later after the first human set his foot on the lunar landscape, many countries (5)?are now send mission to the moon. (6)They start land to send mission to the moon maybe not the only one for much longer.)
Dearly hope that someone helps me complete the ommited points. Thanks in advance. _________________ Try to change youself before you try to change others. |
