Hi everyone,
I'd like to ask about the phrase 'to do something stupid like go outside.'

We don't skimp on tellin' folks how to deal with green death 'round here. There's pamphlets, there's stuff all over the WorldNet, and all the schools go over it least once a week, sometimes more, particularly this time'a year when folks're more likely to do somethin' stupid like go outside.

Does the phrase 'do something stupid like go outside' mean that to go outside is a stupid thing to do?

Yes-- it is evidently dangerous out there. Is this from a science fiction story?
