What is the difference between "Belong in and Belong to"?

A few examples should illustrate the difference:

- This car belongs to her neighbour (it's her neighbour's property).
- Do you belong to the sports club? (are you a member?).
- Those tea towels belong in the top kitchen drawer (it's their right place).
