I wonder which of the two forms of conditionals works in this sentence?

If I passed the test, I would get A in the class.Instead I got a C.I really should have studied more.

OR

If I had passed the test ,I would have gotten A in the class.Instead I got a C.I really should have studied more.

is the right choice because you're describing unreal past events.
