| Some say its noun and some say its adjective. I called it a verb but many said its wrong. An adjective since it alters a noun? |

Well, I'd classify "one" in your example as a pronoun, but I'm not much of a grammarian :) My advice to you: if you want to simlpy speak English, don't stuff your head with this grammar thing that much - the things you should know include how to use the English tenses, phrases (in which situation which), but knowing what part of speech "one" belongs to is not important :) |

The word 'one' here is an adjective.
A pronoun is a word that stands in place of a noun. In your example sentences, 'one' doesn't replace the noun (hour/person).
Alex has given you some very sound advice, Solomon. Too much grammar is forced on students as it is. So, unless you are very analytical and/or enjoy parsing or grammar in general, I wouldn't worry too much about this aspect of the language. |

Hi Solomon,
Depending on the context the word "one" can be an adjective, a pronoun or a noun. "Two" and "three" can be used as an adjective or a noun.
Hope this helps, Torsten
