A simile is: "a figure of speech compares two things with the words 'like' or 'as'
A metaphor is: "a figure of speech in which a word or phrase literally compares or likens one kind of object or idea to another: it suggests a likeness or analogy between them" A metaphor doesn't have 'like' or 'as' in it.
