Hi vuralorion, goat4 and da designer,

Some really impressive TOEFL scores listed here - I'm sure some other forum visitors who struggled with the test will be very envious to see those scores.

In terms of sample tests, you might like to look at the free speaking and writing tests we have on our site here:
http://www.onlinenglish.net/iBT_TOEFL.html

For our test, just after we finished writing and uploading it, we got some students who had just taken the actual iBT to try it and comment on the closeness to the real thing. They all said our test was slightly more difficult in a couple of parts, but overall was "eerily" close to the iBT tests they'd taken.

Being a free test, we've had hundreds of site visitors leave their speaking and writing samples, so now it's a great resource for test takers to experience and share with others.

You might like to try out the test and let us know what you think.

With best regards,

Jason

Hi,

I took my TOEFL iBT on friday. I read in Barron's that there wouldbe an estimated display of scores. However, I never saw any scores after finishing my test. It just gave the option of cancelling or evaluating.

I have another confusion too. I selected the university names when I registered for "My TOEFL iBT" profile. After the test, I accepted for evaluation. But I was never asked for the university names.

Did any of you experience this? Kindly reply...

I am terribly confused...all on a sudden I got the feeling that I could have cancelled my scores....

Somebody didn't do his homework... at all. The Barron Course was referring to the old IBT (- speaking + structure part); you have taken the NEW iBT; waaaaaaaaaay different.

You don't get to see the recipients (universities) at the end of the test. You just don't. You should get an email from each university stating that it got your score.... when it does.

So you see, nothing to worry about.

Hi,

First of all thanks a lot...I did my homework...but just that the data were conflicting each other. So to confirm I thought I can ask you folks....I could not find a single link or book saying that in old iBT it was a diff one and the new iBT is diff....I had taken CBT 4 yrs back and it was in confirmance with barron's iBT FAQ ...hey but I am not worried abt any of those now....you are an angel who just clearly said IT :) so again thanks

Toefl iBT Speaking and Writing sections #22 (permalink) Fri Feb 12, 2010 8:12 am   Toefl iBT Speaking and Writing sections

Hi there everybody.
I set my exam to Mar12, I will need to score a 100 or more with 20 in each section. I am practicing using Longman ibt 2ed generation and online. I have no problem with the reading and listening parts. However, my problem is in the speaking section in particular. I mean taking notes and preparing your answer within 15-30 minutes is like a disaster for me. lol any suggestions?

I'm also taking the test on march 12 - in fact I'm retaking it cuz it friggen expired. I only hope I can score as high as two years ago - I've gotten older since then.As far as the test goes, the general lack of time is c r i m i n a l. You don't get 30 minutes for the speaking section, you only get about 15 for about 5? different tasks (hope I'm not mistaken). But the thing that's BY FAR the most annoying, is that some of your "test companions" will get the speaking section while you have the reading section and vice-versa - try concentrating when the person next to you is having a conversation... it's dreadful.

Hello Gabriel,
First of all let me wish you a good luck. Second the speaking section is about 20 minutes divide on 6 questions; tow independent and 6 integrated. at the independent you will have 15 second to prepare and 45 second to record your response. Alternatively, the integrated task will give you 30 seconds to prepare and 60 seconds to response. So I think that will be short and not as what Emilly presumed. Any way I am following a strategy that I hope it will be helpful in this section. You will need to get the full structure of the speaking section and prepare yourself on a general response that can fit in your response at the exam. For example; in the first independent task you will get a preference question which will ask you about a person, location, event, or activity. So, I think it will be helpful to get yourself a sample response for each of the subjects that you may face in the first independent task. Check this link it will give you a full idea.

My exam is on 10th of April n im really scared about the speaking section...I find the integrated speaking part really challenging..Im using barrons but still stuck wt dt section...dunno wat else to do!!!!!
I've another query,in the independent task of the speaking ques is it necessary to give two reasons to my preferred choice n elaborate on them? shall i be scored low if i dont follow that format coz there r some ques which r descriptive n one can hardly find any reason to support there ans say for example the ques which asks to describe the national flag of our country and state its importance.....
