Worried about my SAT scores Thu Nov 15, 2007 22:09 pm  Worried about my SAT scores

Hey! I am worried a bit about my SAT Reasoning Test scores. For me, they're pretty good, but are they good enough to get me where I want to go? Sad

My overall score was a 1720. I took the Kaplan SAT Prep Course over the Summer and took the October 6, 2007 SAT. I am currently a Junior in High School. I know that many Juniors take their SAT scores in the Spring, but I wanted a head start.

My individual scores were are follows:

Critical Reading: 610
Mathematics: 480
Writing: 630
Essay: 10 out of 12

Now I'd like to major in acting in college. I've only just started looking around at colleges (Boston University, Emerson), but I'd like to know if I've got a shot based on my scores. I'm aware that some theatre colleges don't care about SAT scores, but only the audition (singing, dancing, and acting). Smile

Is this an okay score, though? I definitely plan to take it again, of course! I am fully aware of my pathetic mathematics score, but I've always been horrible at math, so it was no surprise.

Any comments would be much appreciated!

I suggest you call those college admissions offices and say something like, "I have an X.YZ GPA and the following SAT scores.... Does that put me in the "competitive range." Also check out the specific college websites. They usually tell you the "middle 50%" of their admitted students' SAT scores. If you can't find it on the websites, check out some of the common college reference books.

Let me know if I can be of further assistance.
