Yes, "satellite picks 'er up" means that the satellite detects the storm approaching. He could have said, "Satellite picks it up," but in very slangy colloquial language people are liable to use "her" in a situation like that.
You'll also hear someone say, "Let's get 'er done!" when they want the people with them to put out a strong effort to get some task finished. |
