The other day at school, I heard a girl with long, beautiful hair talking about how she was going to donate her hair to be used to make wigs for chemotherapy patients. You don't meet Americans every day who do this, but it's not unusual.
An Arabic lady I know had a brother who would die without a new kidney. She was a donor match, so she planned to give him one of her kidneys. Her brother died before she could make the donation, but in the meantime, her fiancé left her, saying that he "could never marry a woman with only one kidney".
What an idiot! He wouldn't have been marrying a woman with just one kidney as much as she would have been marrying someone so loyal that she would risk her own life for a family member.
Anyway, would you donate a piece of yourself to help someone else? What would you donate, and what wouldn't you? Would you be afraid? |

| Depends on who it was and what they were asking for? If I had to go thru surgery hell yeah I'd be afraid. |

It is said that in some countries the drivers are supposed to donate his/her cornea to help someone else if he/she died in an accident,is that real?

| I don't know about other states or countries, but on the back of the Michigan driver's license, there's a form in which you can mark which parts of your body you want to donate if you die. You can donate all organs and tissues, or just specific ones that you list. This is completely voluntary, though, and no one has to do it. |

Hi Jamie
I have seen two cases like this but my experience was a bit different--I mean, the donor was stopped by his friend or relatives not because they were selfish, but because they were a bit too concerned.
My friend suffered from constant high blood pressure from many years which ultimately caused kidney failure. He was 28 at that time. He went on dialysis, but his health kept on deteriorating. When his only brother decided to donate a kidney to him--can you guess who stopped him? His mother and sisters! Not because they could not live with two men having one kidney each, but because they feared that in trying to save one they could lose the other one.
Perhaps that man also "saw" his conjugal bliss at "risk".
Just some incoherent thoughts.

Hi, I would totally donate a kidney to someone I loved... it would hurt so much to lose them especially if I could have done something.
And I would donate everything that there is to donate after I die... what do I need all of those organs for if I'm dead? I heard one organ doner could literally save dozens of lives... I don't understand why anyone wouldn't do it. |
