meaning of "get in"

Hi,

I was doing some phrasal verb exercises and ran into this new to me meaning of "get in":

get in - do (some practice)
The team needs to get in some more practice before the match

Do you find this usage of "get in" natural?

Can I say something like I need to get in some English exercises?
