Could I say 'take the stiches out'? #1 (permalink) Mon Dec 03, 2007 17:07 pm   Could I say 'take the stiches out'?

Hi,guys

One of my friends has gone to a hostpital for surgery. Could he/she say that 'I haven't taken the stiches out' so far? I'd like to know if I could describe it using this way for this situation?

Thanks in advance.

Maggie

I think it's best to use the passive causative and say:

"I haven't had the stitches taken out."
"I haven't had the stitches removed."
"I haven't gotten the stitches taken out." (The British would say "got".)
"I haven't gotten the stitches removed." (The British would say "got".)

Thank you so much,Jamie.

Also, I wonder Jamie is your first name(family name) or last name? And what's the meaning of (K)?

Talk with you soon.

Maggie^^

Jamie is my family nickname. It's a diminutive of James, which is my given name. The (K) is the first initial of my surname. I use it on here because there used to be another Jamie who on some subjects thought like a Nazi. (Of course, many people on the forum think some of my personal opinions are as bad as those of a Nazi anyway.)
