Hi,

Could you tell me if you find the following sentences natural, please?

Quote:

1. I put my mind to becoming a programmer when I was in my 9th grade at school (or when I was a 9th grade schoolboy - I dont know which is better)
2. We should put our minds to the issues in hand

Best is when I was in (the) 9th grade, or when I was a 9th-grader.

The use of "put my mind" is correct. You can also say "set my mind". It's the same thing.
