When I bring apple cider home from the supermarket, I usually let it sit in the warm kitchen for a few weeks, until the plastic bottle bulges. At that point, it's not alcoholic, but it fizzes and has lots of bubbles, like Coca-Cola. Sometimes, however, I forget about the cider, the gas pressure in the jug gets too high, and the jug explodes at the seams.

I have heard that people from Sweden eat some kind of smelly fish that can explode out of the can when the cabin pressure on an airplane gets low, and that it can make the whole passenger compartment stink.

Do you like any kind of explosive food?

I used to like a candy that pops in the mouth. I don't remember what it's called but it popped in the mouth when I first ate it, I closed my eyes hard. Kind of scary.

And the other one I could think of is chewing gum. I made it flat on my front teeth and I sucked it until it pops to produce an explosive sound. It used to bother my mother. But I think it's more like a clicking sound. It's really fun.

In the US, those were called "Pop Rocks". There was a rumor that some famous boy from TV had died from drinking Coke while he ate Pop Rocks, but in fact all that had happened was that his TV career had waned, and he's still alive to this day.

We call that snapping your gum. If it's really loud, it's popping your gum. It's actually possible to pop it so loud that one girl in the US got fined for violating noise ordinances. Sometimes when I asked my younger sister in our teen years what some girl was like, my sister would say, "She's a gum snapper." From this I was supposed to understand that the girl had no brains.

Sometimes my sister would answer, "She's a flute player," and I was supposed to understand that she was vain, conceited, but not very serious about anything other than being popular.

You guys sure have a lot of name-callings. During my time, as I remember it, it was just about chewing gum, snapping it or making a big balloon from your mouth.

Oh! That's blowing bubbles. I thought you were doing it with regular gum, not bubble gum. You can't blow bubbles with regular gum, so all you can do is snap it.

Jamie, which TV star was that (the one who was rumored to have died from a Pop Rocks/Coke OD)?

It was variously claimed to be Rodney Alan Rippy or "Mikey" from the Life cereal commercials. But if you google Rodney's name, you'll find a photo or two of him as an adult. And "Mikey" was making commercials as a teenager, long after he was supposed to be dead.

No, with her it was cocaine and a bunch of other drugs. Those rumors were true, though, except that she's not dead.

Back to the topic here, I remember once, there was ice cream form Wall's or street's that can "explode" when you lick it. If i am not mistake, it was called "Pop Rock" in my home country. It tasted sweet but we can still felt the aroma of the milk on in. I miss it really.[/quote]
