TOEFL essay: Some students like to take distance-learning courses by computer Tue Dec 11, 2007 19:33 pm  TOEFL essay: Some students like to take distance-learning courses by computer

Some students like to take distance-learning courses by computer. Other students prefer to study in traditional classroom settings with a teacher. Consider the advantages of both options, and make an argument for the way what students should organize their schedules.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Virtual learning sometimes implicates zero learning! Traditional learning promotes that the class be dynamics. In addition, you can establish a relation with the professor beyond the academics topics. Moreover, the near presence of partners motivates a better performance of the student. Despite the fact that virtual learning is extremely beneficial for the students in some cases, I consider that traditional learning is better in the majority of cases.

In the first place, traditional learning has an environment that promotes the interactions between the professor and his students. Classes are more dynamics. The professor and his students are in permanent interaction. Also, students can ask and respond questions. For example, a question in an appropriate moment can improve the learning drastically. Furthermore, the professor realizes instantly whether the students understand the topics or not. In contrast, it is very difficult to detect problems instantly in virtual learning.

In the second place, traditional learning can promote a special relation among the teacher and his students. Class is not only transmission of knowledge. In that case there are not differences between the professor and one book. Professor can teach his personal experiences. For example, in business class, the labor experience of the teacher is extremely important. Besides those factors, the professor can become friend of his student. This special relation promotes future collaboration among colleges.

Lastly, a student can take advantages of the presence of his partners. Discussions among the partners of a special course are highly recommended. For example, they can comment the practical applications of the theories that they have just learned. Students can compare their academic performance. For instance, a student realizes if hi is or not a good student comparing his grades with those of his partners. Furthermore, a student can motivate his partner and vice versa. To illustrate, in some bad moments, the council of a partner is very beneficial for a student.

To sum up, traditional class has important advantages such as the better interaction in the classes, the probability of becoming a friend of the professor and the reciprocal motivation among the students. Due to these essential reasons, I think that distance-learning is not as good as traditional learning. Traditional learning is the best option in spite of that is the older method.
