This article, although undoubtedly useful at the time of its writing, is now simply outdated.

To the best of my knowledge, the TOEFL CBT is no longer administered. As for the PBT, it is still used in some areas; however, if I'm not mistaken, it is getting increasingly out of favor with some universities and especially business schools, since it contains neither the Writing section (introduced in the CBT), nor the Speaking section (introduced in the iBT). Judging from its description I'd also say that it is by far the easiest of the three versions; I think that the comparison table matching PBT scores with those of the iBT exists only for the sake of convenience, because the latter seems considerably harder. And not only that, but, come to think of it, the iBT is so different that the whole TOEFL test looks more like the ship of Theseus.

The TOEFL iBT was introduced way back in September 2005. Perhaps your article should be updated at some point, Torsten.
