And our topic isn't Tian'anmen matter, RIGHT?? But the Nanking Matter... We should remember the history! To prevent the more horrible things... But what we are dong? ''I don't want to recovery the history.'' JUST THIS? This means that you are not willing to acknowledge the history... Just that old Japanese don't want to mention the matter, then you see what happened... So many Young Japanese don't know the matter, don't know the truth, then you know what they are thinking... ''the Nanking matter can be very doubtful...'' ''These Chinese must be lying!'' ... If any piece of these words were heard by a Chinese aware of the history, his or her severe indignation would be aroused!!! Li Xiuying, the famous woman, have died recently... We college students are blamed, for we forget the 12-13... Also, we know the Chinese history, we see what we should do next... Including the horrible things... ... |

I think the reason why you are so obsessed with the cruelties of Japanese oppression is because it has been passed on to you by a generation that is still alive. Believe me, your children will not feel your hatred any more. You hate Japan for something that was done to your grandfathers' generation. If you cannot forgive those Japanese grandfathers for what they did to the China of your grandfathers, you should at least be able to understand why there are people out there who cannot forgive the present Chinese regime for the deaths of thousands of peaceful students. Or thousands of deaths of people who happened to live in a region flooded by authorities. Or consider the misery brought upon parents with two or more children. Or Tibetans who feel like coming back to the land where their fathers were killed. And think of all the discrimination that has existed in your country under the guise of communism since 1946. Ask yourself, do you feel like invading Taiwan to assimilate people who you consider to be rebels by force? What’s the solution - kill them all?
If you want to live in the present tense, you should get a foothold in your country first. This will help you cope with irreversible historical situations better. _________________ Test of English as a Foreign Language TOEFL Preparation & TOEFL Vocabulary Learn more: How to Become an English Teacher |

You are right at one way. But your words may be somewhat wrong. Maybe I hate to talk about politics. But I will reply you, later. Then I am a little busy these days, and this situation may last several days. So I may be unable to reply to you in time... Bye... Very sorry... |

Hi, I am back. And I think this problem is not a easy subject. It is really hard to say you are right or wrong. The time, the history... |

Hi PLR02,
Here are a few collocations that may help you on this matter:
- to bring reason - to bear - to show mercy - to spare - to exercise leniency - to exercise care - to let reason prevail - to exercise caution - to use care - to use caution - to let somebody have free reign
May peace be with you,

Today is December, 13th, seventy years ago, there was a horror in our city, Nanking, which was described as a attractive, cosmopolitan city until the occupation of Japanese army.
More than three hundred thousand Chinese people were slaughtered during just six weeks!
Just one month after the occupation of Japanese army, there were about twenty thousand raping or gang-raping.
Nanking was really a living hell!!!
I am a Chinese college student, if you want to know more about Nanking Masscre, you can go to english.nj1937.org/english/default.asp.
Bye, now. |
