Enemyship? The state of being an enemy? Mon Dec 24, 2007 6:28 am  Enemyship? The state of being an enemy?

I am proofreading a story for a friend, and he has this sentence:
Quote:
"...someone who will love your friends and hate your enemies."

But i think it sounds too severe, so i am trying to change it to something like this:
Quote:
"...someone who will respect your friendships and accept your ____."

Now what do i put in the blank?

Basically my question:
Friend : Friendship :: Enemy : _?_
"friend" is to "friendship" as "enemy" is to "?"

I'm thinking "Rivalries" or "Nemesis"

Thank you! Smile

Unfortunately there is no such word as "enemyship", but "...someone who will respect your friendships and accept your enemies" sounds pretty fine to me.

.
The original-- 'someone who will love your friends and hate your enemies'-- is much better. It is clear, concise and candid.
