Choose the best answer:

Switzerland is well-known for its wonderful mountainous .....

a. sights
b. views
c. scenes
d. scenery

I wonder which one to choose because the four words above almost have the same meaning. Can you tell me their differences?

DIFFICULT SENTENCE 2 #2 (permalink) Sat Dec 29, 2007 4:30 am   DIFFICULT SENTENCE 2

.
'Scenery' is the word we use for landscape. It is the only one that will take the adjective ('mountainous') comfortably. If the sentence read, 'its wonderful mountain .....', then the other answers would be possible though not usual.
