Hi, everybody !

Could you tell me if you find these sentences natural, please:
Quote:
The other night a burglar broke into my crib and the moment I'd spotted him I tried to apprehend him but he offered me violent resistance. Despite that I was able to break down his resistance and, while holding him down, I called the police

I would leave out the "me" and say he offered violent resistance.

I would leave out "down" and say I broke his resistance. However, if you broke his resistance, that would mean he had stopped resisting, and you probably wouldn't have to hold him down. So in that case you should say that you overcame his resistance.
