what does 'I got life' mean? #1 (permalink) Fri Jan 11, 2008 14:57 pm   what does 'I got life' mean?

Hi,

Would you explain me what 'I got ' means in the famous song of 'Hair'?

'I got life, mother
I got laughs, sister
I got freedom, brother
I got good times, man .....
'

Does ' I got' mean: I have (so its a possesion)?
or it means: I got it from someone.... (e.g. I inhereted), so it's the past tense of 'get'.

Sorry, maybe it's a stupid question....

thanks anyway
Liza

.
I'd say the meaning is "I've got" (I have), but the lyricist may also have intended to suggest a bit of double meaning.
