Hello everybody !

My name's Didier. I'm a 38 years old Frenchman. I live in a small town in region Provence. I like foreign languages very much. Mainly Gemanic languages, I also speak Swedish and German. It's sometimes difficult for me to understand certain colloquialisms or jargon in English. I'm sure I will read interesting things on this site.
Greetings,

Didier

Hi Manh !

Thank you for your answer. I will be very glad to exchange messages in English with you too. Well, I've begun to learn foreign languages when I was a teenager. It took several years of course. I 've learnt English at school. I've learnt Swedish and German in writing to pen-friends , with books and tapes as self-taught. I've always loved and enjoyed it. Hope to see you soon too. Very Happy

Hi Didier,

Thanks a lot for joining our community, it's great to have a Frenchman on board. How often do you use your foreign language skills on a daily basis? I mean, do you speak or write in English, German or Swedish at work?

Talk to you soon,
Torsten

Hi Didier,glad to see you!
oh,i surprise that you have learned foreign language since you was a teenager. In Vietnam,my country, almost pupils started learning English late,at about 12 or 13 years old, and don't respect about this subject much. But now,English becomes very important, and every students like me is trying to learn this language everyday.
i want to ask you that:how do you find the interest in learning foreign language? and can you tell me some supremacy when you know many languages?what does it bring to you?
see you soon!good luck!

Hi Manh !

Good to see you here and thanks for your answer. When I was at school we had to begin to learn a foreign language in the first year of CES ( it means junior high school in France). I was 11 years old. But it was 27 years ago. Now they have to start learning a foreign language (often English is chosen of course) several years sooner. France had to make up lost time concerning this subject. Because of its behindhand with English teaching compared to other European countries. I have always been interested in learning foreign languages because I'm curious about other cultures, other opinions and because it's fun. And I like to know new people of other cultures. I'm looking forward to you.

Greetings,

Didier Smile
