Question about TOEFL integrated writing task Fri Jan 18, 2008 16:56 pm  Question about TOEFL integrated writing task

Hello everyone!!!! Surprised
My question is about the integrated writing task when we have to summarize the information we got from the reading and listening passages!!!!I usually summarize the reading passage first and then write about what I heard in the listening section, I don't know is that right or no??
If someone has experience in this pls give me the right direction!! I'm going to take the test on february 23!!!!!
Waiting for replies!!!!
Thank You

Simple outline for the integrated writing task:

Introduction:
Summarize the topic for both inputs (reading and listening)
Summarize the relationship between the two (adding/extending or contrasting?)

Body:
Give details that come from the listening (in as much detail as possible) and relate each detail back to a theory or point presented in the reading input (general/summarized).

The trap is writing too much about the reading passage, and not making enough links between the two inputs.

It's crucial you get much more information from the listening passage into your report - this is what the raters are looking for.

Hope that helps,

- Jason

Thanks a lot!!!! I really appreciate it!!!!
I guess I was using completely opposite technique!!!
As I understand I have to give like 95% information from the listening in the body paragraph and at the same time refer to the reading passage simultaneously!!,
