The task here is to fill the blank with an appropriate preposition:
I have always done my duty _____ my students
I think it should be "to" but my teacher has corrected it into "on".
Would you tell me the answer?

Hi,

I would suggest 'by' in the sense of 'as far as my students are concerned'.

Well, don't choose on-- it has a scatological meaning!

 Exactly!

Linh Bui Hoang, using 'on' would make the meaning of 'duty' similar to the euphemistic meaning of 'business' as in definition 11 here:
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/business

"11. excrement: used as a euphemism."

Alan's suggestion to use 'by' was a good one. Use 'by' -- and ask your teacher to read this thread. ;)
