Hi Everybody,

Myself Manisa lamba from the Tinsel Town of India Mumbai. I work as a software Engineer in a very small company in mumbai. My mother tounge is Hindi. Though i can speak and write english , but my english is not that good. I have been in search of this type of forum for a long time. I really need someone to read and correct my english. I am a very hard working person , but only because of my poor communication skill my work has never been recognized by my seniors . I hope this forum will help me to overcome this hurdle and i would be able to fulfil my dreams .

Hi Manisa,

It's great that you found our forum -- we're always glad to have such interesting and motivated people like you on board. What kind of software does your company create and what exactly is your job? As for improving your English, how much time do you spend listening to English every day?

Talk to you soon,
Torsten

Thank You very much Torsten for this worm Welcome. I really feel very glad to be a part of this forum. Basically I work as a developer. We develope web applications and integration application through which two different applications developed on two different platforms can communicate automatically with minimum human intervation. It is a very challenging job and i like it very much . My working hours is officially morning 10 a.m(IST) to evening 7 p.m(IST) . But due to work pressure almost everyday i come back home after 9:30 pm(IST). I can spend 1-2 hours listening and talking to my friends in this forum everyday. Is this time sufficient to improve my english ? If you think i need to spend more time , please let me know.

Regards,
manisa

Hi Manisa,

Please give me an example of the type of systems you are developing. What kind of applications are you working with? Java, PHP, MySQL? Is there a website I can look at to get a better idea of your job?

Also, to tell you more about the effectiveness of your listening activities, I'd need to know what exactly you are listening to. It's vital that you listen to native speakers.

You say that you are working a lot of overtime. Do you get paid for this?

Talk to you soon,
Torsten
