Hello everyone
I'd like to ask what phrase (his/her or their) is more appropriate in the following sentence.

Should an occupational pathology be suspected, the employee should be directed to the Republican Center for Labor Hygiene and Occupational Disease to establish a correlation between the detected pathology and his/her labor activity.

Or is it better to write their labor activity?

Hi KLPNO

I assume you've read some of the forum threads on this topic.

Your sentence sounds quite formal, so I would expect the writer to use either "his/her" or "his or her" rather than "their".

In a more informal sentence, the use or the word "their" would be quite natural.
