TOEFL essay topic: You’re planning to study abroad #1 (permalink) Thu Feb 07, 2008 15:29 pm   TOEFL essay topic: You’re planning to study abroad

Please, give this essay any comment, my TOEFL test is on 15th February, so I need it as soon as possible...

Nowadays it is not a rare event for young people to plan to study abroad. Considering the fact that they will be living in a foreign country for some time (or maybe for a life time), there are some certain things that students will like and dislike.

When going abroad to study, you make this decision because you want to get a better education in the other country. That is maybe the most common reason for young people to emigrate, but when they become a part of the local life, they are able to find out many other advantages of their new lifestyle. It is really important to everybody to have rich communication, and being in a foreign country is a good way to make new friends, also to meet a different manner of thinking. Changing the environment can turn out to be very beneficial to you!

Despite all the good sides of studying abroad, there is something that is hard to get used to – you miss your friends, you miss you home and family, your country. This may make you feel lonely or it can cause you a depression that is not easy to cope up with. What brings you the sadness is the distance between you and the people you love. It happens sometimes to long for a hug or even the smile on the face of an old friend because you are sure it will make you feel better in hard times.

Studying abroad is an experience that brings many pleasant moments to you but also it separates you from the people you love and your home. In my view a student in a foreign country should do his/her best to have a good time while studying and not to feel sorry he/she isn’t at home, because this will make the student value the precious moments spent with the family.

Thanks! :)
