In the next sentence I put to, but I should have on:

Just after the telephone kiosk, to the left, there is a car park.

For what reason "to" is inappropriate in this situation?

Hi Ljiljan,

You would need 'on the left' because this is a static situation -no movement whereas you would say 'turn/go to the left' because movement is involved.
