Hi Everyone !

This week I launched a new website called:
Learn English with Pictures
my-english-dictionary.com

Learn English with Pictures is a free, online, resource to
learn English words in a fun way. The site has over 400 words
and photographs ranging from animals to kitchen appliances.
The interface is simple and both kids and adults who are learning
English will find this educational website entertaining and useful.

Feedback is welcome.

Have a good day,
Jacob

Hi Jacob,

If somebody has access to the Internet, you can give them a list with words which they should run through "Google images" and they will understand what those words mean. So it seems to me that educating people how to use Google effectively is more useful than showing them a limited number of words and images.

Take into account that on Google you may find images that may not be suitable for young audiences.
Have a good day,

I learned my first 1 000 words by using an illustrated "dictionary". So, I second your idea.

I always use the image search on Google when I need to visualize a noun (sometimes it works with adjectives, even verbs (a snowball change in hell actually with verbs)). I even got myself a folder on my hdd where I store images with filenames matching nouns. I use the "bigpicture" browsing mode to see big pictures when I open this folder.

This requires that your young audiences are using words that are not suitable for them. As I said, if you give them a list with words to run through Google's image database, they will find appropriate images only.
