Hi

Would you say that the following sentences carry the same meaning--and are correct and natural?

Quote:
What is your pocket money?

How much is your pocket money?

.
We often call a young child's pocket money an 'allowance'.

A question might be this:
How much is your allowance?

Hi Tom,

You could also say:

How much pocket money do you get?

I'm assuming that you refer to what a child would get from a parent.

Dear Alan

Your use of the word "assume" leads me to belive that the word pocket money is not very commn in England. But in Pakistan, it's really "rampant". Every good school has got rules on/ against pocket money. So almost all little children (myself included Very Happy ) use this word very frequently.

That said, please see this:

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=pocket+money

So, can a teacher ask his student: In fact, I am more concerned abot the use of what and how much.

Hi Tom

I'd recommend sticking with Alan's sentence if you want to use 'pocket money':
How much pocket money do you get?
