Hi,

If I want to talk about the plural of software, can I say for example grammar softwares as the plural of grammar software? If not, what is the correct plural for the word software?

Cheers,

Maria

Hi,

'Software' is a collective noun and so it doesn't need a plural. If you wanted to express a singular idea, you would say; A piece of software.

Hi,

I heard of several automatic grammar proofreading tools that claim to fix my grammar and punctuation - how good are these tools and can they really help on improving my grammar?

thanks,

Maria

They are getting better and better, but they don't really work yet. They miss some sentences that are incorrect, and they stop on some sentences that are correct.

I have just used the grammar checker in Microsoft Word on this sentence:

My brother say, "Me no care."

The proofreading tool didn't find any grammatical mistakes in that, even though it's full of them.
