.
Your sentence is fine, but I think a native AmE conversation would run something like this:

A (in white shirt and black trousers): How do I look? / How's my outfit?
B: (a fashion critic): I don't think it looks very good.

PS: What could possibly be wrong with white shirt and black trousers?

The above sentence? Thu Feb 28, 2008 18:51 pm  The above sentence?

Hi,

I understand that "above" can be used as an adjective so what do you think of combinations like 'the above sentence' -- is this good idiomatic English or would it be better to say 'the sentence above' or simply 'this sentence'?

Thanks,
Torsten

'Above', like 'below' and 'enough', can either pre-modify or post-modify. 'Above' here, obviously helps us locate the sentence spoken of.

Hi Charles,

Do you see a difference between "the above sentence" and "the sentence above"? I mean, which sounds better to you if any?

Thanks,
Torsten

I suppose 'the above sentence' sounds a bit more like BizSpeak to me. (to clarify: in 'the above sentence', 'above' is an adjective; in 'the sentence above', it is an adverb.)
