Grammatical question: 'job which is suited' vs 'job is suited' #1 (permalink) Sun Mar 02, 2008 13:56 pm   Grammatical question: 'job which is suited' vs 'job is suited'

hello,
I have just read one sentence that made me incomprehensible:

''..when we say that all of us must be educated to fit us for life, it means that we must be educated in such a way that, firstly, each of us can do whatever job is suited to his brain and ability..."

I wonder why they put ''is suited ...'' before ''job'' but not ''which is suited..'' and I think it is a grammatical error. Am I right?

Please help me.
Thanks in advance :P

Hi duc

Because of the use of the word 'whatever', you don't need the word 'which' (or 'that'). You would need 'that' or possibly 'which' if the sentence were reworded this way:
"... do a job that is suited to ..."
.
