.
A mosfet is one kind of transistor:

MOSFET (Metal-Oxide-Semiconductor Field-Effect Transistor)

A transistor with a source and drain region kept apart by a gate. A voltage applied to the gate controls the flow of electrons from the source to the drain. MOSFETs are used to amplify electrical signals.
