Good morning Laheem,
Thanks a lot for answering all my questions about your situation, the more information I have on you the better I will be able to steer you in the right direction. You said that you don't have much time to listen to English and that's the challenge most of us are facing. Now, let's take a closer look at your daily routines. What is the first thing you do when you get up in the morning? It should be switching on an English language news channel. You don't need to listen very closely to it but you must have it play in the background. You will be amazed by the amount of English phrases your brain will absorb this way.
Please tell me more about your job. How often do you receive emails in English and are they written by native speakers? Do you have any coworkers who are English native speakers? How much time do you have for lunch and how do you spend it?
Have a great day and speak to you soon, Torsten _________________ Test Of English for International Communication TOEIC Preparation & TOEIC Vocabulary |

Hi Laheem,
Thanks for telling me more about your situation. One thing you can do immediately is get your hands on an MP3 player. Download audio files from voanews.com and put them on your player so you can listen to them while you are on the bus in the morning. Also, the first thing you should do after (or even better before) you wake up is switch on an English language news channel so you start your day with English. During your lunch break you can put your headphones on again to feed your ears with more English. When you get back home, the first thing you should do is switch on your English language TV channel.
You need as much English input as possible. Make sure that a large amount of your daily information intake is in English as opposed to your native language. When you write a message in English, try to use phrases you know are correct. Don't invent your own phrases. If you don't know what phrases to use, read messages composed in English and copy sentences and expressions that are appropriate for your situation. _________________ Test Of English for International Communication TOEIC Preparation & TOEIC Vocabulary |

The best way to avoid mistakes is to use phrases you have read or heard before. Whenever you write a sentence you should ask yourself this question: 'I am using expressions and phrases a native speaker would use?' Of course this is not always possible but if raise your own awareness of language, your English will improve.
As for your message, just two things: 'Advice' is a noun and 'advise' is a verb. The word 'u' does not exist. The verb 'mean' is stative verb so your question should read 'Does that mean that my writing is very bad?'
Let me know what you think. Regards, Torsten _________________ Test Of English for International Communication TOEIC Preparation & TOEIC Vocabulary |
