my will won't change? #1 (permalink) Sun Mar 09, 2008 17:12 pm   my will won't change?

Hi all,

my professor was asking me why I wanna be a teacher for kids,
and he was curious to know if would I change my mind if I were rich.
Here are what I said in reply to his questions:
"No, my will won't change!"
I have no idea what's wrong with my answer, because he was just smiling...

I wonder if there is any grammatical mistake in what I said.
Is it better to say "my will won't be changed"
or
"my will won't change"

Could you help please?

Hi Kwfine,

'My will' doesn't really work I'm afraid. The trouble with this word is that it gets muddled up with 'will' in the sense of testament. It is used often when it is qualified as in 'Having a strong will' and also in combinations such as 'weak-willed', 'strong-willed' but it doesn't sound right in 'My will is ..' I would suggest: 'I wont change my mind' indicating 'my mind is made up'.
