Comma usage: My name is Bob Brown, I am seventeen years old and I live in London

I would like to know if the following sentence is grammatically correct:

My name is Bob Brown, I am seventeen years old and I live in London.

Or - because of the independent sentences, should it be:

My name is Bob Brown; I am seventeen years old and I live in London.

Hi,

The semi-colon usually indicates a longer pause than the comma but it would be more often used in separating longer and more descriptive sentences. I think in your sentences I would simply join the two with the conjunction 'and'.

I personally think (according to what I have learnt) that the former sentence is grammatically wrong for it has no conjunction. The sentence will be all right with "and"
As for the second sentence, I think it would be better to use a full stop rather than a semi-colon

By the way, could you please be more specific about the usage of semi-colon, Alan? How different is it from comma and full stop? (and please give us some examples)
