They ran into a farm house and jumped right into a barrel of milk where they ..........

(a) hopped and hopped in order not to sink
(b) hopping and hopping in order not to sink
(c) hoped and hoped in order not to sink
(d) hoping and hoping in order not to sink

Correct answer: (a) hopped and hopped in order not to sink

in check your score is the right answer a-but that is wrong!???there are now two pp in hoped.so why is the answer c wrong?

Hi answer a) is correct because the grasshoppers are hoppers not hopers. They hopped and hopped.

hopped is the past simple of hop (to jump)
hoped is the past simple of hope (to wish, to anticipate)
