Could you help me do the correction please? #1 (permalink) Tue Mar 18, 2008 13:23 pm   Could you help me do the correction please?

Hi,

we had an english quiz (20 questions, 5 marks each) a few days ago, and the papers have just been returned to us.

I couldn't get full marks in the quiz because
I failed to answer the second question correctly.

Here are the first two questions taken from the question papers of the quiz:

Try to join the sentences together with "AND".
Q1) Mary is pretty. Mary is kind.
Here's my attempt on Q1:
Mary is pretty and kind. (correct)

Q2)
Tommy has some apples. Tommy has some apple pies.
And my attempt on Q2 is:
Tommy has some apples and apple pies. (wrong)

I feel so confused and don't know how to correct it.

Isn't "Tommy has some apples and apple pies."
is expressing the same idea as
"Tommy has some apples and some apple pies."

Could you help please?

Hi,

Seems a bit fussy to say that answer is 'wrong'.

Hi Alan,

Maybe my english teacher just thought
"Tommy has some apples and apple pies."
is grammatically different from
"Tommy has some apples and some apple pies."
