Is it grammatically correct to say something like this... 'Do my best, do my very best' ??

Do my best #2 (permalink) Sun Feb 15, 2004 8:11 am   Do my best

Hi Drasmadi,

Welcome on board. Yes, 'to do one's best' is a common Expression. Here are two examples:

'I always do my best when I create a new logo.'
'Could you please make sure they'll sign the contract?' - 'OK; I'll do my best.'

As you can see, when you do your best you try and do something as well as we are able to.

Thanks for the replied. If let say I wake up in the morning ans say only those words... Do my best, do my very best... without any other words then is it still ok??? I know that the it is incomplete sentence. The purpose, let say, just to energize myself so that my spirit high for that day.

The reason why I asked this question because someone told me that what I said was grammatically wrong.

I'll give my best #4 (permalink) Sun Feb 15, 2004 10:50 am   I'll give my best

Dear Drasmadi,

You might get up in the morning and say to yourself 'Today I'll do/give my best in the exam/at work'. Grammatically that would be perfectly correct.
