Your remark led me to realize that "suite" and "sweet" are pronounced in the same way (I just looked them up in the dictionary)

Before I had thought that "suite" and "suit" are pronounced in the same manner

Probably the same as the word "suet", right? Very Happy

Bingo! #17 (permalink) Thu Mar 27, 2008 8:27 am   Bingo!

By the way, did you guys know about Bullshi* Bingo? I got this in an email a couple of years ago.

You have to check off each word when you hear these words during a meeting.

Still makes me chuckle whenever I am in a meeting and people use these words. And the words are:

1) Synergy 2) Strategic Fit 3) Gap Analysis 4) Best Practice 5) Bottom Line

6) Re-Visit 7) Bandwidth 8 ) Hardball 9) Out of the Loop 10) Benchmark

11) Value-Added 12) Proactive 13) Win-Win 14) Think Outside the Box

15) Fast Track 16) Result Driven 17) Empower or Empowerment

18 ) Knowledge Base 19) Total Quality or Quality Driven 20) Touch Base

21) Mindset 22) Client Focus[ed] 23) Ball Park 24) Leverage 25) Game Plan

Have you heard any more lately? Do share.

Hi, Daemon

I agree that people at meetings have this peculiar tendency of using nonsensical buzzwords in their speeches. I always welcome simple turns of phrase and like it when people get their ideas across using everyday's language.

By the way, I'd like to point out that the word "mail"/"email" is uncountable and you don't need to use the indefinite article with it. Wink (I hope I'll get some backing of native English speakers)

I had thought it over twice before I put an 'an' in front of 'email'. I have known it well that mail is uncountable, but I vaguely remember reading on this forum (or may be, somewhere else) that email, on the other hand, is countable.

Let's see who gets the backing Cool

Hi,

I would say 'email' is countable in the same way as 'letter'.

In the United States, this game is called "Buzzword Bingo", not Bullsh*t Bingo.

"E-mail" is used in two different ways.

Sometimes it's countable, in the same way as letter: "I got three e-mails this morning."

Sometimes it's uncountable, in the same way as mail: "I got a lot of e-mail this week."

Maybe it's a euphemestic way of calling it Very Happy
