I'm saddened to see a president employ these kind of tactics Sun Mar 23, 2008 17:38 pm  I'm saddened to see a president employ these kind of tactics

Hi,

I was reading the news and I came across something that I don't understand grammatically.

Obama advisor Merrill McPeak, a retired air force general, responded on Saturday saying: "As one who for 37 years proudly wore the uniform of our country, I'm saddened to see a president employ these kind of tactics."

I don't quite understand why it is "employ" and not "employs". Is it wrong to use "employs" in the above sentence?

Thanks.

'Employs' is wrong. 'Employ' is in the infinitive: see (someone) employ something.
