1) The new movie John acted in is inspired by an old movie.

2) The new movie John acted in is inspired from an old movie.

Can someone please tell me which of the above two sentences is correct? Is there any scenario where we have to use from with the word 'inspire'?

Hi,

'Inspire' is more often used with 'by' and more usually refers to people as in: The film directed was inspired by the stories he had heard.
