Hi,

I can't make up my mind on what to choose - "Turn out beautiful" or "turn out beautifully". For example, of the below sentences which would you go for?
Quote:
The banquet turned out beautiful
The banquet turned out beautifully

Thanks a bunch !

Hi Alex

If what you mean is "The banquet was beautiful", then you're better off to say it just that way (i.e. with 'was'). The use of 'beautiful' would basically be a description of how things looked and/or felt at the banquet.

If what you mean is closer to the idea that everything went well, as planned and without a hitch, then you should use 'beautifully'.

Hi, Amy

Actually, I intended to convey the second idea, that is, everything went off without a hitch. :)
By the way, I'd like to ask you in the bargain if everything went off without a hitch and everything went without a hitch. have basicaly the same idea?

Thank you again !

Hi Alex

Yes, you could say that with or without the word 'off'. I'd say that 'went off' sounds a little more informal.
