In this sentence who is a question word. The speaker wants to know which person is sitting in a certain place. Now look at these sentences to see the difference between who and whom:
Whom have spoken to? Whom does this bag belong to? That's the woman with whom we went to Brazil. |

| About 'who and whom'- please tell me I am right or wrong:whom is used for object pronoun and who is used for subject pronoun. Now, most teachers do not use whom much instead they use who with the preposition 'to' at the end of the sentence.I am I CORRECT OR WRONG . Your valuable advice , please. |

Hi Lal,
Yes, you are absolutely correct but language changes and very often the 'm' is dropped particularly when it's separated from the preposition and most frequently in conversation. It is invariably 'whom' when it comes immediately after a preposition.

Josiah Elisha, do you remember which of the twelve months is Sue's favourite one and why? If you do know the answer, please share it with us. I remember that thing . Sue's favorite one out of the twelve months is May because the spring turns into summer. |

Hello Torsten, I was so tired, when I was doing the test relative pronouns I have done three mistakes. About my questions, I don't have special questions. Maybe I have some kind of fear that if I tell something it will be different and people will understand me in wrong way. That's why I'm silent like the night. Thanks, Allaminna |

I was wrong here: I don't understand a word what you are talking about. What's the difference when i use WHAT in place of THAT?
Did you meet the lady who's uncle works in the library? who's/whose? please explain.... I have to catch up a lot, been on holiday for more than a month. |
