Verb- some confusion. Tue Apr 01, 2008 19:29 pm  Verb- some confusion.

Hi,

I am to go to school at 10 a.m.
I have to go to school at 10 a.m.

Are they both carrying same sense?

Again,

The chief minister is to unveil this statue.
The chief minster will unveil this statue.

Are they both correct and carrying same sense?

Verb- some confusion. Tue Apr 01, 2008 19:38 pm  Verb- some confusion.

Hi,

When you say 'I am to' 'you are to', you are talking about a future event but it is an event that has been arranged in advance. 'I have to' is simply I must.

'is to unveil' again means this has been arranged in advance. 'will unveil' simply states that this is going to happen.
