Could someone please tell me if the sentences below are correct?

1) 'The meeting went/ran long into the night'

2) 'The meeting went/ran late into the night'

3) 'The meeting extended late into night'

Please suggest better ways of putting it, if any.

Hi,

I'm not so sure about 'went' and I don't like (3). I'd like to suggest something different:

The meeting lasted well into the night.
