Have you read this book?

Quote:
Shakespeare's Non-standard English: A Dictionary of His Informal Language By N. F. Blake

Published 2006
Continuum International
Publishing Group

If it was good enough for the Bard, then why not for the rest of us?

Why, on many language fora/forums is there such a "fuss" about both informal-English and non-standard English and why are we advised to avoid it as much as possible? Also, why do so many native-speaking forumites attempt to conflate "informal" with "incorrect"?

Hi Molly,

An interesting point. Can you give instances of this:

Well I'm not so geekish as to save/collect such instances, Alan, but you doubt it happens?

Hi,

No doubt expressed and I take your point about being geekish but I just wanted a sort of general comment.

Does a "feminine cleansing product" cleanse one of all femininity, or is it just for getting rid of the women in your life?

it's like when I went to see American Pie in a theater... two male pals and the sister of one attended it with me.

Of course we were laughing constantly, and in some instances the comedy in the film offended the sister and she'd be like, "Shut up, you guys, that is not funny!"
